Congratulations to our February Student Athletes of the Month!

Mia Moran- Girls Wrestling

The head girls' wrestling coach, Coach Widhalm, had this to say about Mia:

"Mia finished her record-breaking season with a 5th place finish at the Colorado State Wrestling Championships in the 105 lb weight class. Mia became the first SOPHOMORE from FFCHS to win a medal at the the State Tournament. Mia also finished the season with a school record 34 wins in a season, passing 2 x state medalist Eyvori Jacquez, and 2023 State Champion Alexys Jacquez for this honor. This season Mia has earned individual medals at 7 tournaments, and was the Regional Runner-Up to qualify for her second State Tournament in her 2 years at FFCHS. She did this all with a serious shoulder injury, yet smiling all the way. Mia currently sits 2 wins shy of the school's career wins record. At the State Tournament she was the only competitor to earn a takedown on the eventual State Champion who is a senior, and ranke #1 in the USA! Though small in stature, Mia is a true GIANT in Heart & Joy!”

James “Diesel” Patterson- Boys Wrestling

The head boys wrestling coach, Coach Kutz, had this to say about Diesel:

"Diesel became the first wrestling regional champion since 2019. He won all four of his matches by pin. At the state tournament, he finished in the top 8. I watched Diesel increase his work ethic and effort throughout the last couple years so to see him get recognition and awards for the work is what it's all about."
