Congratulations to our March Student Athletes of the Month!
Alexa Queen - Track and Field
The head track and field coach, Coach Montoya, had this to say about Alexa, " Alexa has placed first in both of her favorite and strongest events which are the 100m Hurdles and the 300m Hurdles at the CSU Early Bird and the Banana Belt Classic defeating athletes who are highly ranked in the state of Colorado. She also has broken the school record at the Banana Belt Classic in the 100m Hurdles where she ran 14.64. She has broken the school record that she currently holds in the second meet of the season. Alexa has a an extremely tremendous work ethic and is very coachable athlete who hates to lose. We are looking forward to Alexa's season this year as she attempts to to become a future state champion for Fountain-Ft. Carson High School.”
Mikey Eckley- Boys Swim and Dive
The head boys swim and dive coach, Coach Taylor, had this to say about Mikey, "Eckley has already qualified for state in both of his individual events and did so in the very first meet of the season. He is also qualified in all three relays. The Trojan Swim and Dive program hasn't had an individual go to state in swim in 8 years on both the girls’ and boys’ side. He is consistently our top point scorer and has helped the team go 4-1 so far this season and has already dropped time in all of his events this season. Currently, he is chasing the school record in the 50 free and is less than a half of a second away from the nearly 10-year-old record. Aside from being an outstanding athlete, he is one of our team captains this season and has led by example with his determination, and dedication to being the best swimmer he can be."
