Department Mission:

Our mission in the Fountain-Fort Carson High School Band Program is to educate students in cooperation with families and our community to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to achieve each student’s potential as socially responsible, lifelong learners and lifelong music lovers in a diverse and changing society.

We believe that Music is an integral part of a comprehensive education. Musical experiences enhance the students’ quality of life through heightened aesthetic awareness, healthy social relationships, in-depth teamwork, and invaluable self-discovery. Music incorporates understanding from all disciplines and leads to improved self-concept, broader cultural awareness, and development of critical life-long skills.
 
Band is a safe place for anyone to belong, and it is valued and understood that each member of the band program brings unique characteristics and strengths. The pursuit of excellence, quality musicianship, program growth and achievement are among our main goals. We will pursue these goals through concerts, festivals, honor bands, and competitions, with particular attention to individual growth within the program: as musicians, as students, and as people.
